Legacy website & app rebuilds
Your website already exists.
It just needs putting right.
We rebuild slow, insecure, unmaintainable sites in real code — then host them and look after them. We are not a WordPress shop. There is no theme, no page builder and no plugin bill.
To fettle (verb)
To put something back into good working order.
Everyone else starts over. We fix what you have got — the content, the rankings and the years of work already in it.
- Fixed price. Quoted before we start, not discovered at the end.
- Hosting included. On our UK infrastructure, in the monthly plan.
- You own the code. Repository handed over. Leave whenever you like.
Sound familiar?
You do not need a new website. You need your one to stop letting you down.
It takes six seconds to load on a phone
You already know it does. Every second past three costs you roughly a fifth of the people who tapped the link.
You pay for plugins you never chose
Slider licence, form licence, SEO licence, backup licence. Forty to a hundred and fifty pounds a month, renewing forever.
The person who built it has gone
Nobody left understands the theme, so nothing gets changed and everyone works around it.
It got hacked, or it nags you weekly
Thirty plugins is thirty chances for someone else’s bug to become your problem.
A text change takes a fortnight
You raise a ticket to fix a phone number. That is not a workflow, that is a hostage situation.
Any of those, and a rebuild pays for itself.
Usually inside two years, on the plugin and hosting bills alone.
The idea, in one line
Keep what works. Redesign what does not. Rebuild it in real code.
Your existing site is not worthless — it holds your content, your search rankings and years of accumulated work. We keep all of that. What changes is everything underneath it.
How it goes
Six steps, and you know the price before step three.
- 01
Audit
We measure what you have — speed, structure, security, what it is built on and what it costs to run.
- 02
Plan
A fixed scope and a fixed price. You see the page list and the URL map before anyone writes code.
- 03
Rebuild
Hand-written code. Static HTML out the other end. No theme, no builder, no plugin stack.
- 04
Migrate
Your content moves across and every old URL redirects to the right new one, so your rankings survive.
- 05
Launch
DNS cut over out of hours. We watch it. If anything looks wrong we roll back in minutes.
- 06
Maintain
We host it, back it up, monitor it and keep it fast. You get a real person, not a ticket queue.
The honest comparison
Nothing against WordPress. It is just the wrong tool for most of what it gets used for.
It runs about 40% of the web, and a lot of that is fine. But if all your site does is explain what you do and let people get in touch, you are running a database, an admin system and thirty plugins to serve what should be a handful of files.
| Typical WordPress build | Refettle | |
|---|---|---|
| What actually gets shipped | PHP, a theme, and 20–40 plugins | Static HTML, CSS and a little JavaScript |
| Attack surface | Plugin vulnerabilities, an admin login, a database | No database, no login, nothing to break into |
| Monthly licences | £40–£150, renewing forever | None |
| Typical mobile load | Four to eight seconds | Under a second |
| Updates | Weekly, and each one might break the site | Nothing to apply |
| Who owns the code | Locked to a theme vendor | You do — we hand over the repository |

Refettle for Good
2 free rebuilds a year for UK charities.
We build it for nothing. You cover running costs at £25 a month — what the hosting actually costs us, not a penny on top. Open to registered charities and CICs turning over under £250,000.
See if you qualifyTwo a year is a real cap, not a marketing line. We would rather do two properly than promise ten and deliver leftovers.
